ABOUT US
HOW OUR JOURNEY BEGAN …
About 15 years ago when I was admittedly a much-younger man, my good friend Bear Beatty took me under his wing and hired me to work for his Home Content Removal & Liquidation business. Over many years, I learned all the tricks of the trade and found I deeply enjoyed the work. Over time, I became more of a business partner than an employee. Having lost my own parents, he became a surrogate father in many ways. Sadly, Bear passed away unexpectedly. Losing my business partner and friend was, as you can imagine, a shock to the system.
While there is only so much, we can do in the wake of a loss, I knew there would be no greater way to honor Bear than to carry on the legacy of the work he loved so much and spent nearly his entire life doing. When I branched out and started my own Estate Liquidation & Cleanout business, I wanted to have some outward nod to Bear and how much he meant to all of us. As I mulled over potential company names and logos, I thought back to the business my late father Gary owned. It was a club & music venue in New Haven called “Arcadia Ballroom”. I looked up “Arcadia” online and was taken aback to see the following:
In ancient Greece, Arkadios was a variation on the name Arcadia. Arcadia was a mythical land whose name means ” bear.”
It was truly a full-circle moment and I knew Bear must’ve had a hand in all of this. “Arcadia Cleanouts & Liquidation, LLC” was born. In further reading I learned more about stories from Greek mythology where Zeus turned “Arcas” (his son) into a bear, then putting him into the stars. When you look at our logo, this is why you see the bear and the star.
Just as I have stories, I appreciate whole-heartedly, my clients do as well. Myself and my team understand how navigating a cleanout or move can be stressful, complicated or emotional for our clients and we make it a top priority to make the process as seamless as possible. We are honored to be trusted with your treasures and will treat them like such.
Warm Regards,
Matt Sachs, Owner AC&L LLC
